If the 35 is a Diesel-Hydraulic then why does it need a boiler?

I'm sure that fans of the Railway Series will recognize the Class 35 as the basis for the fictional diesel 'Bear.' Tell me, since I've never heard a Hymek engine in action, does it really sound like a bear?

I wouldn't say they sound like a bear per say, but then again, I've never really sat down and thought about it that much to be honest :o

This vid [link] captures the sound of the locomotive quite nicely in some parts, so if you want you could watch it so you can see what you think? =)

Thanks for the link. I'd have to say the closest it comes to sounding like a bear is when it's moving at a slow speed.

Brings back memories of my childhood train spotting days in the mid '60s, trains going through Chippenham were mainly Hymeks, Westerns, Warships and 2 or 3 car DMU's. Days long gone. :)
